I represented myself in my IRS audit, where the agent made large adjustments to my return and then disappeared. What’s up?
My initial thought is that your case may have been referred to IRS-CID (Criminal Investigation Division). This is the section of the IRS that deals with fraudulent filings of tax returns and other tax crimes.
This group of IRS representatives are typically seasoned veteran agents who are highly trained and capable of putting pieces of a puzzle together to establish tax fraud.
You seriously need help here. It is critical that you get help from a very experienced tax attorney to help you minimize the damage that has occurred, or may yet occur.
Run – do not walk – to the nearest telephone and find legal representation!
And remember your rights, especially the one about being silent. This means you have the right to not talk to the government.
